Coming out of Beta and new office in Malaysia

Aductions Inc, the new advertising company based in San Jose CA has finally come out of beta. The company has also set up a new office in Malaysia and they have hired a few industry insiders to help implement their business goals. Southeast Asia is a hot market for internet advertising and the company should be in an excellent position to capitalize on that trend.

You can check out more details about their new office and the other offerings they have in store for advertisers and publishers on their blog.

Recession and Online Advertising

If you have been following the stock market’s performance as of late, you would have noticed the major indexes haven’t been performing up to par. This is because there are rumors the US economy is slipping into a recession. A recession  is a decline in a country’s gross domestic product (GDP), or negative real economic growth, for two or more successive quarters of a year.

Another reason why the market hasn’t performed so well is because of the falling value of the almighty dollar. Mr Benanke has been reducing the Feds Funds Rate in an effort to stimulate the economy from the after effects of the sub-prime woes. A reduction of the Fed Rate allows banks to loan more money to consumers which ultimately causes people to spend more money.

Effects of a falling Dollar

When the Feds reduce interest rates, the value of the dollar falls. This is because there is now more money chasing fewer goods/services. In other words, a reduction in the value of the dollar increases the amount of money one dishes out to buy everyday necessities. This ultimately leads to consumers paying more money for goods and services that were otherwise affordable. Economist call this inflation.

What does this have to do with online advertising?

There has also been rumors that this foreseeable recession is going to trickle down to the online advertising industry. Because online ad campaigns are easier to track and relatively cheaper than advertising on TV and newspapers, I believe the company’s that can innovate by helping advertisers achieve the best possible ROI will be amongst the few that will survive these tough periods.

What say you?

Zabasearch: Huge Invasion of Privacy

Zabasearch is a free public information search engine that can be used to find people’s phone numbers, addresses, date of birth etc . I ran across this search engine a few months ago and I was quite shocked to discover the mass amount of sensitive information being released by this site.

Zabasearch works like a regular site engine, you type in your first and last name, and the system will show a link(s) to your address, phone number and date of birth. So far, their search engine only aggregates data for United States residents but I won’t be surprised to see other countries included in the near future.

A number of people have filed complaints against this company but nothing has yet to materialize. With the massive amount of identity fraud out there, this company is an accident waiting to happen.

Zabasearch needs to be stopped and I hope a lot more people continue to voice their displeasure towards this company.

Do a search for your name to see if your information is publicly assessable.
